Volunteering
A core Retired Men’s Association mission is to practice and promote VOLUNTEERISM both locally and nationally and to fulfill the many roles and responsibilities needed to be a vibrant public service organization. Our membership regularly contributes more than 15,000 hours per year of volunteer time to support both internal and “external” needs.
For reference, we have compiled a list of local NPOs that members have served over many years. Have a look.
VolunteerMatch.org can help you find organizations that might benefit from your knowledge, experience and time.
Chair: Will Morrison This role is on the look out for new NPO and charitable projects that would be a good match for our members. Of particular interest are those that offer a “team volunteering” experience. While most opportunities call for an individual to provide a service, the team volunteering provides the dimension whereby members can get to know each other and socialize in the process. An example of this is our serving lunches at the Covenant House in Stamford. For two hours, three or four members assemble and distribute lunches to the clientele. It opens up an new dimension. |
![]() Volunteer Advocate Chair: Mike Amoroso The role of our Volunteer Advocates is to make it easy for members to find volunteer opportunities, both internal and external, that match a member’s skills, interests, and availability. Before and after the Wednesday Member Meeting, they circulate amongst the membership to understand their current volunteer projects and what might be of further interest. |
This role collects the volunteer hours logged by members and reports periodically on the activities.
